چکیده

Studies aimed at the development of analytical methods based on electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry for the determination of antimony, selenium and arsenic in gasoline and kerosene were performed. The goal was to develop sensitive methods that allow a simple calibration procedure to be used through direct correlation between analyte signals measured in the sample and signals from aqueous standards. This was possible by optimization of both the sample preparation procedure and furnace conditions. The platform atomization technique was used together with chemical modification (ruthenium permanent modifier or Pd/Mg nitrate chemical modifier). Better results were obtained when samples were introduced as microemulsions prepared with a surfactant (Triton X-100) rather than sample introduction as detergentless microemulsions (three component solution). Good sensitivity was achieved, which allowed the determination of analytes in gasoline and kerosene samples in the mg L range. Linear ranges up to three decades were observed for the analytical curves. Laboratory-prepared samples were analyzed with good precision and recovery.

Determination of Cadmium by Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry after its Separation and Preconcentration by Syringe to Syringe Dispersive Liquid Phase Microextraction-Solidified Floating Organic Drop

The application of syringe to syringe dispersive liquid phase microextraction-solidified floating organic drop was extended for the separation and preconcentration of trace amounts of cadmium ions from water and cereal samples. The extracted cadmium was quantified by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. Factors affecting the complex formation as well as microextraction efficiency such...

Elimination of Chemical and Spectral Interferences in Measurement of Trace Elements in Urine and Blood by Combined Electrodeposition-Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

A combined electrodeposition-ETAAS technique has been applied to the analysis of Pb, Cd, Co, Ni, Cr and Mn in biological samples in order to overcome interferences and to minimize sample pretreatment. It requires minimal sample preparation with the electrolysis process aiding partial decomposition of the organic matrix, adequate for the release and deposition of trace elements. In an initia...

Preconcentration and Determination of Lead for Trace Levels in Water and Wastewater Samples by Vortex-Assisted Microextraction Using TPAS as a New Synthetic Complexing Agent with Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy Detection

A simple and rapid solidified vortex assisted 1-undecanol based liquid-liquid microextraction technique was proposed for preconcentration of trace levels of lead ions. The extraction solvent (1-undecanol) was dispersed into the aqueous samples by the assistance of vortex agitator. 100 µL of 1-undecanol containing ethyl (2Z)-3-[(5-chloro-7-methyl[1,3]thiazolo[5,4-d]pyrimidi...

Ion Pair Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextraction for the Determination of Trace Amounts of Copper(II) in Soil, Multivitamin Tablet, Tea and Water Samples Using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

Ion pair dispersive liquid- liquid microextraction (IP-DLLME) method combined with flame atomic absorption spectrometry was proposed for the determination of trace amounts of copper(II). By using pyrocatechol violet as chelating agent and cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide as an ion pairing agent, the trace amount of copper(II) was extracted in chloroform. The factors influencing the formation cop...

Determination of Trace Copper(II) in Food Samples by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry after Cloud Point Extraction

A new method for the determination of trace copper(II) in food samples by Cloud Point Extraction(CPE) combined with Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry(FAAS) is presented and evaluated. The method is based on the fact that hydrophobic complex of copper(II) with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) was formed at pH 6.0 and subsequently the hydrophobic complex was extracted into surfactant-r...
